PSAT 스코어의 의미는?  

PSAT 스코어를 받아든 많은 학생들은 그 점수의 의미를 어떻게 해석할 것이며 얼마나 향후 점수 향상이 가능한지 궁금해 한다.  SAT가 각 과목 800점 만점인 것과 달리 PSAT 는 과목당 80점 만점으로 구성되어 있다. PSAT Critical Readign score로 전환하기 위해서는, 예를 들어 점수가 65점인 경우 단순히 뒤에 0을 하나 더붙이면 된다. SAT Critical Readign score는 약 650점이라 보면 된다. 그러나 일반적으로 SAT점수는 PSAT점수보다 높게 나온다는 이야기를 듣게 될 것이다. 이 원인은 SAT가 다르게 측정하기 때문이 아니라 PSAT는 대부분의 학생들이 이와같은 시험을 처음으로 접하고 준비가 안됐기 때문이다. 만약 SAT를 준비하고 연습시험을 치른다면 점수는 반드시 올라가게 되어 있다. 만약 PSAT점수가 낮다면 충분히 걱정할 필요가 없다; SAT준비에 더 많은 노력을 기울여야 한다는 신호로 받아 들이면 된다. 기본적인 능력수준을 넘어 SAT는 지식수준을 평가하는 테스트이며 지능수준을 평가하는 시험이 아니다. 몇가지 종류의 개념만 열심히 공부하고 집중적으로 연습하며 SAT시험에 친숙해 지면 뛰어난 점수를 받을 수 있을 것이다.

What Does Your PSAT Score Mean?:
Upon receiving their PSAT scores, many students wonder how to interpret them and how much he or she can expect to improve. On the PSAT, each section is out of 80 points, rather than 800 like on the SAT. To convert a PSAT Critical Reading score, for example, of "65", simply add a zero to the end, and your approximate SAT Critical Reading score is "650". However, you will generally hear that your SAT score will be higher than your PSAT scores. This is not because the SAT is scaled differently. It is because the PSAT is the first time most students have seen the test, and they are unprepared. If you prepare for the SAT and take practice tests, your score will certainly go up. If your PSAT scores are low, you do not need to worry; you will simply need to put more effort into your SAT preparation. Beyond a basic level of ability, the SAT is a knowledge test, not an intelligence test. If you work hard to master that set of concepts, and you practice extensively to become familiar with all of the patterns of the test, you will have an excellent score.
